Thomas W. Lackey is an American teacher, law enforcement officer and politician currently serving in the California State Assembly. He is a Republican representing the 36th district, encompassing Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita Valley.
Throughout my time in the Assembly, I have fought for regulatory reform and tax cuts that would make it easier and more affordable to start and grow businesses in the High Desert.
Supporting small businesses is critical to growing jobs in our community which is why I am proud to have received an “A” rating from the National Federation of Independent Businesses.

Make California affordable for working and middle class families
Bad decisions in Sacramento are making California’s cost of living unaffordable for working and middle class people.
In the Legislature, I coauthored a plan to fix our roads and highways without raising taxes by ending raids on transportation funding and dedicating it to its true intended purposes.
I have opposed expensive new government mandates that will raise California’s sky-high electricity rates even higher and make gasoline more expensive.

Stand up for strong public safety laws and protect victims
I have used my experience as a CHP officer to successfully strengthen drugged driving laws to help keep our roadways safe.
Protecting victims of crime has been a top priority when looking at criminal justice laws. I helped pass the law that toughened penalties for possession of date rape drugs and coauthored a new law to eliminate the statute of limitations for sexual assault crimes
