My name is Mary Young and I am the State Representative for House District 50–Greeley, Evans, and Garden City. I was elected as the representative-elect on June 2, 2019, was officially sworn in as the representative on June 27, 2019, and was re-elected on November 3, 2020. I am committed to continuing to work towards crafting and supporting legislation that supports the needs of hard-working families during these tough times and the health of small businesses. We know that physical/mental health, economic health, and social justice are all intertwined. I am committed to addressing these areas as we move forward.
Increase access to Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder services in schools and our communities. More School Psychologists and other school and community Mental Health professionals are needed.
Improved Mental Health services will improve school safety.
P-12 education in Colorado is seriously underfunded. Comprehensive funding reform needs to continue to be pursued.
There are many issues affecting individuals and their families along the lifetime, including appropriate educational services through residential support and transportation for adults. Programs preparing individuals for community employment with pay parity is a priority.
We need to be continuing to build a society where all families feel they can have their needs met in our struggling economy. One important area is access to affordable child care. Another issue is increasing access for individuals with disabilities to the services they need.
Continuing to support an economic recovery especially for small businesses and the agricultural industry.
We always need to strive for equity and equality in our democratic society. The pandemic has made it clear that we have miles to go before we reach health parity and economic and social justice. I am committed to continuing to work toward these outcomes.
Addressing the continuing impact of the pandemic and a path to a continued successful recovery. Listening to scientific experts to protect the health of the community and supporting small businesses during this tough time.
