Born on an Air Force Base, Kevin gained an early appreciation for the sacrifices that military families make. In high school, Kevin earned an Architectural Drafting Certificate at a Career Technology school, which he used to work and pay for his Engineering degree. Later in life, he earned his MBA.
After undergrad, Kevin went on to work as an Aerospace Engineer for Rockwell International. When the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster rocked the aerospace industry, Kevin was out of work. He began saving to purchase his first McDonald’s Restaurant by starting and operating small business ventures: writing computer programs to automate tasks for businesses, real estate, and even hog farming.
Our military men and women put everything on the line to protect our country. In response, it is our duty to support them both in and out of uniform. The men and women who risked their lives to defend our nation deserve excellent care and our utmost respect.
Improving the VA system begins with ending waste and increasing accessibility. An inflated bureaucratic system has made care for our veterans expensive and ineffective. We need to fix the system rather than throwing taxpayer money at the problem.
The incredible veterans of Oklahoma’s First District inspired me to honor a veteran every month as our Veteran of the Month. The stories of courageous men and women who have served our country deserve to be shared with our community, so I tell their stories every month.
Additionally, I brought the Veterans History Project to Oklahoma for the first time. The Veterans History Project is a partnership between Congressional offices and the Library of Congress, cataloguing the stories of local veterans to be preserved in Washington, DC, for future generations to see and learn from.
The United States federal government spends approximately six million dollars every minute. This out of control spending costs American families an average of more than $23,000 a year. The hardworking families of Oklahoma deserve to keep their hard-earned money. We must end government waste and cut spending to reduce the American deficit.
Grassroots entrepreneurship and innovation are the backbone of our economy. As a business owner for more than 30 years, I know the American economy thrives when the government gets out of the way. That is why I am working to put in place pro-growth policies that will boost the American economy.
Oklahomans should decide where their money goes—not bureaucrats in Washington. Implementing tax cuts will stimulate the growth of the American middle class. Increased international trade will bring jobs and revenue to the state of Oklahoma.
The function of American government is to preserve the rights of its citizens. Most sacred among these are the rights to life, liberty, and property. I believe in the sanctity of all life and the importance of protecting life at every stage. As such, I am dedicated to defending the lives of the unborn. As a proud Oklahoman, I fight for family values and give voice to the voiceless.
Legal immigrants are the embodiment of the American dream. Their contributions to our country make us stronger. However, a sovereign nation must maintain its borders. It is imperative that we secure the border and enforce the rule of law.
Our immigration system is broken. In order to keep our people safe, critical border funding is needed to secure our border and provide aid to our border agents. Congress has held up that funding for years, tabling important work and forcing our border agents to work with limited resources. We must move past partisan divides to keep our people safe.
A strong national defense strategy is vital to the future of the United States and the safety of our people. As the foremost global superpower, our military superiority secures American stability and provides strength to our allies around the world. In order to keep our people safe from any present or future threat, we must prioritize military preparedness – which means adequate defense funding. Strengthening and modernizing our military is a primary focus.
It’s imperative to continue to combat threats to American security. We have taken the fight to ISIS in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa and have made incredible progress to stop the growth of the world’s largest terror organization. In addition, we must condemn Russian encroachment on American sovereignty, and we must be watchful of an emerging China.
Obamacare placed the health care of the American people in the hands of bureaucrats in Washington, leaving millions of Americans with skyrocketing premiums and pricing many out of the health care market altogether. We must reform the health care system into one that puts patients first and assures quality care for our people. Encouraging competition improves access to affordable, high quality care for Oklahomans. The federal government should not be in charge of rationing healthcare. Americans deserve better.
