In 2018, Jena Griswold was elected as the first Democratic Secretary of State in Colorado in 60 years. She became the first Democratic woman Secretary of State in Colorado’s history. Jena has been able to lead, and work with the legislature to pass, one of the largest democracy reform packages in the nation and the nation’s first bill to protect our elections from insider threats. Griswold has overseen six statewide elections, protected the right to vote, increased election security, and improved voting access across Colorado.
Jena Griswold is the only candidate in this race who has overseen successful statewide elections, many with record turnout. Today, Colorado is considered the “gold-standard” for elections. She increased the number of mail ballot drop boxes by over 65 percent, expanded in-person voting, launched a statewide system so every voter can track their ballot, and guaranteed access on every public college and tribal lands. She passed automatic voter registration, which led to more than 350 thousand eligible Coloradans registering to vote and record-breaking turnout.

Griswold fought dark money and corruption by spearheading campaign finance reform and lobbyist reform and securing the funding to completely overhaul our campaign finance and lobbying reporting systems to shine a light on election funding.

Colorado was one of 21 states targeted by Russian hackers in the 2016 election. Colorado also recently received a B-ranking in cyber security. As Secretary of State, Jena Griswold will protect Colorado’s elections from Russian hacking or any attempts to interfere with our elections. Jena will also fix our statewide voter registration system, which went down in 2016, causing 2-3 hour lines in some places. Our statewide system has to work perfectly on Election Day.
