Representative Michael J. Soter currently serves as the State Representative for Massachusetts’s 8th Worcester District. Mike represents the towns of Bellingham, Blackstone, Medway, Millville, and Uxbridge. After being sworn in for the first time on January 2nd, 2019, Representative Soter was eager to get to work serving his constituents and making a difference on Beacon Hill. Representative Soter is focused on the issues that directly affect his district.
Consistently being a presence within the district by attending events, honoring eagle scouts, sponsoring projects, and being accessible to every constituent.
Continue to advocate to fund line items and bills that include Chapter 70, regional school transportation, and special education circuit breaker. Support projects that encourage early education and expanding educational resources to those with young children.
Ensuring school and community safety by securing funding for resources and advocating for legislature that benefits the families of first responders and armed forces personnel. Assisting in securing grants and other opportunities that allow school districts to make security and safety improvements to facilities.
Represent our veterans and their families to ensure they are provided with the support and benefits they deserve. Supported legislature that proposes an expansion of the veteran’s status to National Guard and Reserves, increases housing options, and protects veterans hiring preferences.
Advocate for economic policies that add jobs and employment opportunities in the district. Continue to be a proponent of public/private partnerships to encourage investments in local infrastructure projects and transportation improvements. Promote tax credits for small businesses that allow them to prosper within the community.
Supporting those who laid the foundations for our communities and continue to contribute to the wellbeing of our communities. Assisting in ensuring funding for Senior Centers and regularly visiting these facilities to ensure accessibility.
Work with Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and other environmental organizations to work towards solving environmental issues within the 8th Worcester District.
We need to have a State Representative that has the experience to work and balance budgets and stay within the confines of our current tax base to balance our state budget. We don’t have a revenue problem with our State Budget! As State Representative I will be fiscally disciplined in how I manage our spending without sacrificing the needs of our towns in the 8th Worcester District!
Our school system is an integral part of shaping the future of our community, and it should be supported accordingly. Our children deserve proper facilities, the best resources that we can provide in a consistent and reliable manner. One of the main pillars of our campaign is ensuring that the school system is protected and prioritized appropriately.
Efficiency, consistency, and reliability are the elements that make a town, city, or district function and thrive. We are focused on making sure that roads are kept in the best condition possible and that public buildings are maintained and cared for. Careful attention and open communication are the best way to maintain the complicated systems in place in our district and we are determined to provide that.
One of our primary concerns is ensuring the care and well being of the senior citizens in our community. The Soter campaign is intent on building upon the strong foundation that our seniors have established and to keep the community connected and thriving.
